Welcome to Our Mental Health and Wellness Resource Hub

Logo of Pioneer Pete circa 2022

At Leavenworth USD 453, we are committed to fostering a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where students and families can thrive. We understand that emotional and mental well-being are key to success both in and out of the classroom.

This page is designed to connect you with our dedicated mental health teams and provide valuable resources to support your family’s well-being. Whether you’re looking for assistance within our schools or seeking community-based support, we’re here to help every step of the way.

In-District Mental Health Team

There are four types of shared roles in the district that provide crisis intervention and mental health support to our students, these roles include:

  • School Psychologist
  • School Social Worker
  • School Counselor, and
  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst

The people who work in these roles collaborate with teachers, parents and administrators to promote student's academic, emotional, and behavioral well-being. They advocate for students' needs within the educational setting, and work with students experiencing emotional or behavioral challenges.

To speak with any of our mental health team members, please call your student's school.

In the table below we go into the specifics of each role.

School Psychologist

  • Conduct psychological assessments and evaluations.
  • Create and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Provide behavioral and academic interventions for students with learning disabilities, autism, and other needs.
  • Implement and monitor interventions, including Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs).

School Social Worker

  • Support students facing social, emotional, and family-related challenges.
  • Work on truancy intervention, attendance improvement, and connecting students with outside agencies.
  • Provide counseling and crisis intervention for families in trauma.

School Counselor

  • Focus on academic guidance, helping students with course selection and college/career readiness.
  • Lead social-emotional learning, life skills training, and personal development sessions.
  • Provide short-term, solution-focused counseling for individual student issues.
  • Assist with bullying prevention and support positive school culture.

Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)

  • Develop, implement, and monitor behavior intervention plans (BIPs) for students.
  • Conduct assessments of challenging behaviors (Functional Behavioral Assessments, FBAs).
  • Provide staff training on implementing behavioral strategies and monitoring data.
  • Specialize in behavior management, primarily working with students on the autism spectrum or with other behavior-related challenges.

Below you will find a list of community resources.
Please Note: Leavenworth USD 453 does not endorse any of these agencies, nor do they endorse one over the other. This is not an exhaustive list of resources.
